Linda Popky is the president of Leverage2Market Associates, a California-based strategic marketing firm with clients ranging from small businesses to Fortune 500 companies and she has been named one of the top women of influence in Silicon Valley.

Linda is also the author of “Marketing Your Career” and “Promoting Your Non-Profit.” A classically trained pianist, Linda recently released a CD of classical piano music.

The Host’s Perspective:

Have you ever been to a symphony performance and beforehand heard the musicians warming up individually? They’re not playing together. There’s no focus. It’s noisy. That’s the analogy Linda Popky makes to modern marketing. (She’s a classical pianist by the way.)

With so many options available to marketers these days, many organizations are losing their focus and just making noise.

There’s a certain breath of fresh air about this book.

It helps remind you that despite all the technological advancements of modern marketing, there are certain elements of marketing that have worked well for oh, the last ten thousand years. And while marketers need to stay abreast of new tactics, they also need to maintain a strategic focus that will help grow their business.

The book introduces the Dynamic Market Leverage Model, which breaks marketing down into eight core disciplines and five additional Leverage Factors that can help your organization do something very difficult in marketing these days – stay focused on what’s working.

If you’re a business owner or marketer who is perhaps a bit overwhelmed with all the noise of modern marketing and is looking for a timeless framework that will keep your marketing focused on what matters and what works, you will sing the praises of this book.
