The Host’s Perspective:

This book was originally published in 2011 and has been updated several times. It is has been the best-selling book about Twitter, every year since since it was first published.

So, in a time where Twitter as a company seems to be doing a lot of things wrong, the success of the platform continues to thrive and, as the author explains, “Twitter is the most human-powered social network” and “is the ultimate business networking utility.”

The book outlines the numerous, often overlooked business benefits of Twitter. At the top of the list is the fact that Twitter is one of the most powerful sources of market research on the planet and an endless source of real-time customer insights accessible to businesses of any size.

What’s the secret to Twitter success? The secret, and much of the book is devoted to the three legs of the Twitter success stool:

1) making targeted, intentional connections

2) sharing meaningful content for your connections (hint: it had better not be all about you)

3) authentic helpfulness.

Brand new to Twitter? Don’t worry – the book walks you through all the basics to get you up and running. Are you a Twitter pro? You’ll still learn new things (I certainly did).

The most important takeaway from the book, is that whether you’re on Twitter or anywhere else online, the more human you are, the more successful you’ll be.
